the bedspread
opportunity came
a-knocking
i rush to open
the door
trip over my
wildest dreams
fall headlong
to the floor
in a mist, eerie
yet to clear
a voice, softly
in my head
opportunity, it's
fool's gold!
better prone lying
than wakeful dead
rip, a lifetime
in bed spent
sleeping beauty too
serenely bedspread
opportunity came
a-knocking
handsome prince
or kiss of death?

The Wimbledon Dream
federer is in action
centre court spellbound
he serves and he volleys
oooh-aaah goes the crowd
the fun has just begun
the feast is yet to come
strawberries and cream
the wimbledon fan's dream
federer is in motion
rolex stops to watch
a leap here, a swoosh there
unique glow awash
delight tho' the tennis is
the feast is yet to come
strawberries and cream
the wimbledon fan's dream
federer is a point away
cup within his reach
royals swoon in their box
others shriek and screech
wimbledone, end of dream
answer to my prayer
the strawberry's blonde
and from the creamy layer

Fall, Level, Bruise
Garden Path
Shot to Pieces
in the walk of life
our trails came together
we came to a fork
you turned left; i said good night
i snapped at you
in anger; you left
i now live with
my photo, graphic memoryFlood Pressure
life without love they say
is a desert; how untrue
it's monsoon; i'm drowning
in the tears i shed for you
in the tears i shed for you
Black Whole
darkness has long gone,
why is it still night
unburden my heart
let it be light
let it be light

14th of July
have you ever stopped and wondered
what it would be to stop time; or just pause it
like sivaji does in paatum naane bhavamum naane
when my music stops the world grinds to a halt
and action movies becomes still life paintings
do it then, as federer serves for the match
when i arch my back and raise my arms and
bend my knees and toss the ball
do it then, after the finger moves but before it writes
do it then, after the trigger's pressed but before gunfire
do it then, in that limbo between salivation and sensation
do it then, before time travels from anticipation to conclusion
do it then, while i get a whiff of heaven
do it then, before the dream's wakeful dead
do it now, and keep doing it again
pause, rewind, play ... but not the bitter end

Everpest
old man on the hillside
summit in his sight
sherpa to the left
fixed rope to the right
two hundred in front of him
two hundred behind
in step now with hillary
all-conquering kind
peak view stunning
simultaneous blinding
what's hidden below
under snowy icing
20 tons of garbage
many things much worse
four human bodies
four buried climbers
the dichotomies of life
and its many highs
man compromises
age has made him wise
youth on the hillside
summit out of sight
doesn't need an answer
gets the question right

she was just so serene
(in 2004, in the women's singles final of wimbledon, 17-year-old maria sharapova beat two-time defending champion serena williams 6-1, 6-4. in her autobiography, sharapova wrote she feels williams hates her for being the skinny kid who beat her at wimbledon and that it motivates her whenever they play each other. then they've met 19 times since then and williams won the last 18. yesterday, williams withdrew from their french open 4th round match with a muscle injury)
the continuing story of williams and sharapova
(with apologies to lennon-mccartney)
she was just 17
green, but oh so mean
the way she stood
just made me stop and stare
i wanna hat-trick of titles
but she had me thinkin' there
she started with a bang
my shots just boomeranged
and before too long
she had me beaten fair and square
i would've done a 'trick of titles
but she had me weepin' there
well, she's had a blast
it's gonna be her last
she'll never get any moooore
she's now 31
and never has she won
in 18 times
we've met since two-oh-oh-four
i missed making it nine-teen-oh
gimme a shoulder to cry on
well, she's had a blast
it's gonna be her last
she'll never get any moooore
KJ Blues
Woke up in the morning
Didn't know what to do
Called up my friend KJ
He said you've got the Blues
He said Don't you worry
You seem to be a-daze
Just come over to my parlour
The place we call the Haze
I'll play you Hilt & AJ
Lou Majaw and Blu
Something for your soul, mate
Tips and Rudy too
Woke up in the morning
Didn't know what to do
I miss my good friend Kiran
I got them KJ Blues

the end you're in
fleeting
glance
furtive
touch
stolen
kiss
covert txt
illict tryst
fragrant
sweat
sharpening
breath
pangs of death
and they died happily ever after
seething
glance
clumsy
touch
swarthy
kiss
no pretext
short'n'swift
boiling
sweating
panting
plain out of
breath
and they lived happily ever after
enjoy the end you're in
enjoy the enduring
