the yesterday blues, take one

the face behind the daily mirror
morning reflects glory
but you don't want to see it
thinking it's the sad old same story

afraid to hurt the one you love most
afraid to hurt your own self
hoarding pages of your past
cluttering mindspace in your bookshelf

blank all the walls of your jailhouse
you prisoner of yesterday
the safety blanket you call memory
is just silicon wafer wasteaway

hope in vain, no better tomorrow
pain is everlasting
trapped in perpetual motion
of self-pitifying lambasting

The first verse lends itself well to Mannish Boy like singing

As good as any I have read.

Wicked wordplay -- 'morning reflects glory'! 'pages of your past cluttering mindspace in your bookshelf' is like something Lennon might have written! Brilliant!

Wish I could teach this verse if not hear it set to music.
